Catgut Laboratories was started by Charlotte Matis in 2006 with the aim of becoming a small sole-proprietorship.
Since then, a lot has changed.

Our aim is now to operate as a Worker-Owned Musician’s Co-op, offering much, much more than could have been
as a one-man-shop.

By Summer 2013 we should be moved into a location other than the Matis’ basement. We will have added teachers and repair techs for each instrument (still limited to strings) and will have a
full-service recording studio and record label in house.
